Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie held a town hall in the home state of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday ahead of a crucial first Republican presidential debate . Christie wanted GOP voters specifically in Florida to know they didnt have to stick with former President Donald Trump or their current governor . Christie also used his Florida stage to go after a recent memo from a proDeSantis super PAC floating potential debate talking points that included defending Trump onstage . The only way to beat someone is to beat them, Christie said . The former New Jersey governor has a simple goal for Wednesday’s debate: Get seen by more people. I always listen to the question. I listen to it and if somebody else says something on the stage I think is really stupid I try to point it out he said. Thats life. We all make mistakes. I like that. He does speak his mind. He said. I feel really comfortable and I think its going to people in the truth and I know Im comfortable. And I think thats going to be comfortable. I think Im comfortable and relaxed and I feel comfortable and comfortable . He brushed off recent poll numbers that show him with an unfavorable opinion of GOP voters among GOP voters . The New Hampshire primary is not going to change his poll numbers . Christie said. He ended up finishing sixth in the Granite State. He finished sixth in his first White House run in New Hampshire. I was wrong. He is not comfortable. He has not been comfortable. The New York State. It is not necessarily going to go to the New York state. I am going to have an unfavorable poll.
