Concerns mount over potential for food crisis amid Russian moves to cripple Ukrainian grain exports

The US and its allies are grappling with how to avert a global food crisis following Moscows withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal . Russia has unleashed a flurry of attacks on grain supplies in key Ukrainian cities including the port city of Odesa . Russia by weaponizing food is doing something truly unconscionable US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said last week . Ukraine accounts for large portions of the worlds food supply including of the world wheat market of the corn market and of the barley market according to the European Commission . An administration official familiar with discussions told the US is interested in investing in additional storage capacity for additional capacity .
