Army Capt. Larry Taylor received the Medal of Honor the nations highest military award from President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday for his heroism . The four men were pinned down by the enemy with seemingly no way of escape in a firefight in Vietnam . Taylor dropped them at a nearby water treatment plant where other Americans were waiting on the ground to help with the rescue . Now years after that harrowing evening in Vietnam Taylor had picked up four of his fellow soldiers during a raging firefight the men clinging onto the outside of his helicopter as there wasnt room inside that he realized he had to figure out where to take them . In a matter of moments Taylor decided to drop them . Taylor said he was doing his job and I knew that if I didnt go down and get them they would not like it. So yeah Id rather be an asskicker than to have my ass kicked. I was doing my job he said of being in the Cobra helicopter. I thought you had to do something to receive the medal of Honor. Well Larry you sure as hell did something man Biden said at a ceremony on Tuesday. If you ask anyone here Im pretty sure theyd say you’d say you did something extraordinary. And because of that he rewrote the fate of four families for generations to come. Thats valor. You can kick some ass . Thats Valor. And thats the kind of valor . The Medal of honor. And when duty called. And if you asked anyone here. When duty called Larry did everything to answer Biden added. He did everything. And he did everything . And because he did anything. And Because of that I did everything for that he did it. AndBecause of that they’d say he did .
