Loved ones of Americans released on house arrest in Iran push back criticism of prospective deal

Tara Tahbaz said it is never wrong to bring an American home . Emad Shargi and Morad Tahabaz are three of the five Americans who had been imprisoned in Iran and are now under house arrest . Neda Sharghi whose brother Emad was also moved into house arrest said she did not know the terms of the deal but questioned what else the US was to do but try to reach an agreement to bring home Americans who are wrongfully detained . Some Republicans including Senate Foreign Relations Ranking Member Jim Risch and presidential candidates Mike Pence and Ron DeSantis have criticized the transfer of the Iranian assets with the latter two likening it to a ransom payment . The other two have not been publicly identified . They were able to speak with their loved ones by video call after their transfers from Tehrans notorious Evin Prison . They also spoke with the Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the phone after their transfer from Evin prison after they were released last week . They say they are still waiting for a prisoner swap component to the deal to free American prisoners to be released from the prison . They have stressed that the negotiations are ongoing and that the other two are not publicly identified and that they are yet to be publicly identified. They say their nightmare still wasnt over. Theyre not home yet. They’re still wrongfully detained in Iran . Theyre still wrongently detained in Iran. They are still wrongful detained. They’re still missing. They need to be wrongfully committed. They were not wrongfully imprisoned. They don’t want to be rightfully detained. The other 2 have not be rightly detained. We don‘t want them to be out of sight.
