National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said it would not be out of character for North Korea to use Travis King as a propaganda tool or bargaining chip . Kirby also defended the administrations work to secure the release of Paul Whelan and Evan Gershkovich who the US has designated as wrongly detained in Russia . Kirby would not say whether President Joe Biden would raise the case of Lt. Ridge Alkonis who is detained in a Japanese prison Friday when he meets with the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at Camp David . He said that the administration has and continues to routinely talk about Alkoni . However he would not give details of the case Friday when Biden will meet with Kishido at CampDavid to discuss the Japanese PM at the Camp David on Friday . He would not reveal if Biden will raise the issue of the detained Lt. Alkonner’s case . He added that he would be working to make sure rule of law is respected in Japan to ensure that rule of the possible here to be respected and that we make our concerns clear of the Japanese law is not in violation of the law and that he is working hard enough to secure his release of AlkONnner’s release .
