Former President Donald Trumps legal team in Georgia is continuing its efforts to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fan Willis from pursuing her election interference investigation. In a new page filing in the Superior Court of Fulton County Trumps lawyers stepped up attacks on Willis a Democrat. Willis is considering bringing racketeering and conspiracy charges in connection with Trump and his allies efforts to overturn the election in Georgia. Earlier this week the Georgia Supreme Court dismissed a similar bid from Trump. Also an Atlanta Judicial Circuit judge has ordered Fulton County Superior Court judges including McBurney to recuse themselves from overseeing attempts by Trump to essentially shut down the Fulton County criminal probe. The circuit judge ordered that the judges in Georgias th District which covers northwest Georgia will now preside over the Trump vs. Willis petition. The order invited the newly appointed judges to arrange a courtroom in Fulton County if necessary so it is still unclear where any future hearings on the case will be held. Willis has indicated she plans to announce charges in August. The district attorneys office declined to comment. In the filing Trump lawyers argue that due to Willis conflict of interest as a political candidate she should not be allowed to continue to pursue the case. The District Attorney personally retweeted requests for followers and campaign donations which referenced her prosecution of this investigation Trumps attorneys argued in the lengthy petition. Trumps Georgia legal team filed a petition last week asking the court to throw out the evidence collected during investigation to disqualifying Willis and to remove Judge Robert Mc Burney from presiding over the case last week. The Georgia Supreme court said in a fivepage opinion that Trump hadnt demonstrated the extraordinary circumstances that would require their intervention to block state prosecutors from ever using that material in any future criminal or civil proceedings. The case is expected to continue until the end of the month when Willis is scheduled to make a decision on whether or not to bring charges against Trump or his allies in the 2016 election. The former president has indicated that he plans to make an announcement about his involvement in the election interference probe in the coming weeks. He has said that he will make a statement about his role in the investigation in the next few days and that he is looking forward to seeing how the investigation turns out in the aftermath of the election. He also said that the investigation has been a success so far and he has no plans to resign from the White House. The investigation is still ongoing and Willis has said she will announce her decision on charges in the near future. The state attorney general’s office has not commented on whether she will bring any charges against the former president or any of his associates in the wake of the alleged election interference effort. It is unclear if Willis will bring charges in relation to the alleged Russian interference in the presidential election or if she will wait to wait until after the election to announce them. The office has said Willis will make her decision in the fall and that she has no immediate plans to do so. The State Attorney General’s Office has said the investigation is ongoing and that it is looking into the matter.
