James Cameron said he almost didn’t cast Leonardo DiCaprio or Kate Winslet in “Titanic” The director said he was afraid Winslet was too much of a typecast for the role of Rose. Cameron also revealed that Di Caprio initially didn’t want to read for the part. The film celebrates 25 years of being released next month. It won 11 Oscars, including best director for Cameron, and was a box office hit in the U.S. and Europe, among other things. It was also the first film Cameron directed to be released on Blu-Ray and DVD in December 2013, along with “The Reader” and “Jude” The film was directed by Cameron and co-written by Robert Redford, who also won an Oscar for “The Godfather: Part II,” and was released in 1996. It is currently in theaters in the United States and Canada. The movie was released worldwide on December 19, 1997, and went on to win 11 Academy Awards, including for best director and best picture. It also won four Golden Globes, including Best Picture and Best Director for Cameron.
