Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building on Saturday morning shortly before the House was scheduled to vote on a government funding bill . Bowman’s office said it was an accident and the New York Democrat said later Saturday I was trying to get to a door. I thought the alarm would open the door and I pulled the fire alarm to open it by accident. The incident was first revealed by House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil a Republican from Wisconsin . An investigation into why it was pulled is underway . Bowman however laughed off the GOP response to the incident on Saturday telling reporters Theyre gonna do what they do. This is what they say. Bowman said . Rep. Lisa McClain a Michigan Republican and member of the GOP leadership team told she is circulating a resolution to censure Bowman over the incident. She said she already has cosponsors. Bowman however said she was not going to apologize for the incident . She said it is not an apology for her actions. It is not clear whether Bowman will be punished for pulling the alarm or why she pulled the alarm was pulled or if she will be disciplined for pulling it out of context. It was not an accident. I was just trying to do what I thought it was a mistake. It’s not an error. I pulled it out. I am not a mistake, it is an error, it’s a mistake and it’s not a serious mistake.
